CIRAS Procurement Technical Assistance Program Training Plan
These networking sessions are designed to allow the sales/business development personnel of businesses to discuss best practices, challenges and techniques for their Government contracting pursuits, including but not limited to, monitoring bid opportunities, marketing and communications, proposals and payments. The sessions will be facilitated by CIRAS Government Contracting Specialist and allow sales personnel to share information and learn from peers in this market.
8(a) and HUBZone are Federal Procurement Preference programs, and each require an extensive application process for certification, however certification provides companies with many benefits and opportunities for their Federal contracting pursuits. These peer discussion groups will provide current/previous 8(a) and HUBZone certified companies the opportunity to meet other certified Iowa companies, discuss best practices for leveraging and maximizing their certifications, learn from others' mistakes and successes, discuss market research and marketing techniques for their Federal customers, and make potential work connections. Groups will be facilitated at least twice a year by ISU CIRAS Procurement Technical Assistance Center and the Small Business Administration.
Details coming soon.
This bi-monthly networking session will allow companies that have done business or are considering doing business with any of the Government entities on Rock Island Arsenal the opportunity to receive some basic training on the requirements and processes for selling to these agencies, and then will allow for informal discussion and Q&A between companies, with CIRAS as well as invited guests (ex: Small Business Advocates, Contracting Personnel etc.). These groups will enable attendees to not only learn from the group as well as CIRAS, but will promote potential partnerships and teaming.
The intent of these sessions are to provide Iowa companies in any industry an opportunity to participate in peer networking discussions related to Government contracting. The groups will be offered quarterly throughout the state, facilitated by the local ISU CIRAS Procurement Technical Assistance Centers, and will be structured as a session to discuss relevant and trending topics from the Government market, current challenges or questions from industry, as well as building your network of Iowa business partners. The agenda and topic discussions for these groups will be driven by the attendees.
