ISO 9001:2015 Internal Auditor Training

Notes: Want to improve your ISO 9001 audits? The ISO 9001:2015 Internal Auditor Training is a two-day, CIRAS-sponsored educational opportunity for anyone seeking practical insights and tips for implementing or improving a quality management system. The class, which is scheduled to take place October 17-18 in Ames, will be led by an experienced QMS Lead Auditor. Participants will learn the “Heads-Up” auditing technique for finding value-added improvement opportunities. You’ll learn the 9-Step Auditing Methodology for interviewing, as well as basic principles of auditing, note-taking techniques, and how to write audit findings. Hands-on exercises are featured for learning and applying auditor skills and techniques. The goal is to leave auditors ready to effectively and efficiently conduct internal quality system audits. This class also covers the background to the ISO 9001 standard, including defining the purpose of the quality management system, quality management principles, risk-based thinking, and the reasons for registration to ISO 9001:2015. This training is equally applicable to AS9100, ISO 13485, IATF 16949, and other ISO 9001 based systems.

Manufacturing Networking: Meet Your Competi-Mate

Notes: This event will answer the questions "What is a competi-mate?" and "How can I partner with them for additional business opportunities?". Companies, especially small businesses, may be hesitant to consider pursuing and performing work as a team, especially with someone they may consider a competitor. The Government at all levels is procuring more items and services as "packages" that are either too large for one company to perform, or inclusive of a number of items/services. This event will attempt to drive companies to think outside the box, and provide options for companies to better work together and consider developing partnerships. In addition, the event will expand your current regional industry network and hopefully increase your awareness of resources and potential partnerships. The event will consist of brief discussions from industry experts on timely topics, but primarily will focus on a structured networking session to pursue the goal of more Iowa companies working together to pursue and win business.

Capability Statement Workshop

We'll use worksheets to help identify your company's differentiators, and you will work with others in the group to get outside ideas and opinions. Better Process Control School

Design of Experiments Workshop

Notes: This course will cover one of the more powerful statistical tools used in design and process optimization: Design of Experiments (DOE). Heavily based on Minitab® statistical software, the material will introduce you to the 3 types of experiments: Fractional Factorial (screening), Full Factorial (interaction), and Surface Response (optimization) Experiments. During the class, you will understand how DOE's are set up, how they work, and how to analyze and interpret the results. You will plan for, conduct, and analyze each of the types of experiments using a simple device (X-pult) that will give the participant an opportunity to better understand the capabilities of Design of Experiments
